Ultra Wide Band(UWB) radar can avoid interference from snow, sound, wind and other natural environments. So it can be used in wireless sensor networks and work all day without considering weather. Ultra-wideband radar has the ability to avoid multipath interference problems in communications. Therefore,ultra-wideband can be combined with wireless sensor networks. To meet the requirements of wireless sensor networks,a ultra-wideband radar antenna with small size is proposed. The proposed antenna is a microstrip antenna fed by a Coplanar Waveguide(CPW). The simulated results show that the antenna has many advantages, including small size,wide-bandwidth(1.78-2.38 GHz),and good omni-directivity. The antenna can avoid interference of the existing wireless communication bands, and shows broad application prospects.
